  • Overview

    The Shift Leader is responsible for performing a wide variety of leadership activities as directed by the Program Coordinator.  This individual must implement and make certain that all daily logs, checklists, task sheets and documentation related to site and shift (A, B or C) are completed accurately and timely as directed by the Program Coordinator.  The Shift Leader will act as a liaison between the Program Coordinator and Assistant Counselors.   The Shift Leader will operate as a leader in all crisis interventions and incident reporting on shift.  The Shift Leader will be expected to maintain and model at all times appropriate behavior and interactions for staff and clients.  This individual will assist with orientation and training to new staff, as assigned by the Program Coordinator.  The Shift Leader will participate in the planning and execution of all recreational activities.  He/she will manage any changes in staff scheduling during shifts and coordinate all necessary coverage.

    • Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing an exacerbation of either psychiatric, substance use and/or medical symptoms, as well as experiencing a stressful situation.
    • Works cooperatively in the work environment and takes direction from management with dignity, respect and in a productive, professional manner.
    • Works cordially with others in a team setting.
    • Assumes a professional, helpful style in all encounters with visitors, vendors and other professionals and represents the company in a positive manner 100% of the time.
    • Consistently demonstrates an understanding of, supports, and focuses on the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the company in day-to-day activities.
    • Ability to render compassionate care and an equal commitment to serve others in need of assistance.
    • Reviews and responds to electronic and hand written mail, memoranda and other correspondence and responds to phone inquiries timely (within 24-hours or next available business day) and in a professional manner.
    • Accepts other special projects as assigned.
    • Must maintain training requirements of 40 hours annually.
    • Must successfully complete all criminal background checks annually.


    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or related field; or a minimum of a high school diploma/GED with at least 2-years experience in working with at-risk youth.

    • Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of the discipline.
    • Computer literate and proficiency to Internet, online applications and email.
    • Bilingual a plus.
